Last Monday, on the edge of wine country, our new Oregon winery began harvest with beautifully ripe Pinot Noir from Durant Vineyard in the heart of the Dundee Hills AVA.
One week later, the arrival of our estate vineyard Pinot Noir from Anna’s Vineyard in Chehalem Mountains AVA was put into fermenters with the same charisma as each of the blocks received this year – ripe and beautiful!
In one short week, just over 200 tons of delicious tasting Pinot Noir was destemmed and put into open-top fermenters. In a normal year, the fruit tends to ripen over several weeks enabling us to ferment and reuse the fermenters at least once or twice. This year, however, the entire fermentation floor was filled withfermenters. Not a single fermentation was complete when the last fruit arrived, so we are totally bulging at the seams!
2014 is ripe with delicious flavors and colors. Look forward to great things from Oregon in 2014.
