2012 Chapel Block
This most sought-after block of grapes is iconic in NW viticulture. The concentration and balance of Syrah from this site is world-class. Farmed by the Washington pioneer of the Syrah grape, Mike Sauer humbly and professionally gives us perfect fruit year in and out. The 2012 vintage was exemplary for this fragrant varietal yielding rich fruit aromatics. The Chapel Block Syrah stands toe to toe with the finest in the world and will satisfy those who enjoy power-fully complex wines and the reward of long-term, cool cellaring.
Sweet fruit aromas of dark plums, blueberry compote, vanilla and cigar box. The palate is lush with a smooth and velvety texture dominated by huckleberry, date, clove and black licorice candies, finishing with chalky tannins. Drink now through 2025+.
Created from a blend of just 19 barrels, our final production was 490 cases. Aged in 34% new oak (100% French) for nearly 12 months. The blend is comprised of 100% Red Willow Vineyard Syrah from both East and West facing slopes, from the Yakima Valley AVA.
