For this 2014 “Clandeboye” Pinot Noir, we hand-selected 8 barrels from the opulent 2014 harvest. This annual bottling represents our favorite barrels from each vintage. Located in the coast range between the small communities of Yamhill and Carlton, the Merriman Vineyard consistently yields Pinot Noir on the more intense end of the flavor scale.
Owner and winemaker David O’Reilly helped in the planting of Merriman Vineyard in 2000. For most of these years the fruit was designated entirely to our “The Kilmore” Pinot Noir. Occasionally a few limited edition vineyard designate bottlings highlighting specific clones have been made. In an amazing vintage such as 2014, we knew we had to single out a few of the barrels and introduce a new reserve bottling. This is it and how gratifying to show years of experience and passion being rewarded with this wine.
An aromatic blend of thyme and oak spice, this blend of 45% Wadenswil, 45% Dijon 113 and 10% Pommard clones is bursting with opulent flavors of eucalyptus, baking chocolate, black pepper and clove. Juicy raspberry and floral rose petal notes linger across the elegant mid-palate, creating a balanced and complex mouthfeel and lasting finish.
