This wine ships in the March 2017 Club Release to Artisanal Select Oregon Pinot Noir Wine Club Members.

This Pinot Noir comes from a handful of rows planted in rocky soil (Witzel very stony silt loam) at around 600ft elevation, near the top of the idyllic Sojourner Vineyard.  Planted in 2007, this site benefits from a SW aspect and a cool drying breeze from the Van Duzer corridor.  The rocky and depleted soils provide excellent drainage and make for small berries with concentrated flavors.  All blocks were harvested on September 17th, when the flavors found their balance on the vine.  The blend is comprised of three barrels and three clones; 1/3 Pommard, 1/3  Wadenswil, and 1/3 115.  The wine developed in one new barrel and two second fill French oak barrels.

This lovely bright Pinot Noir is medium-ruby hued and exudes aromas of cranberry, pie cherries and an underlying hint of tobacco. A mouthful of Juicy boysenberry and black raspberry flavors are prevelant, with notes of cedar and spice in the mid-palate. A firm tannin structure and bracing acidity aid in a smooth, long finish.
