BEHIND THE LABEL

The Kilmore Doorway image was captured by photographer David K. Brunn. This Romanesque doorway was a sculpted entrance to the ancient Trinity Island Abbey in County Cavan, Ireland. For hundreds of years, the cloisters served as a refuge until they were destroyed by the forces of Oliver Cromwell. Here, the great patriot, Owen Roe O'Neill, sought solace during his quest for Irish independence.

One of our signature Oregon Pinot Noirs from the Yamhill-Carlton District, located in the Northern Willamette Valley, this blend of two vineyards showcases the individuality of this appellation.

VINEYARD NOTES
The 2015 “Kilmore” is consistently sourced from Lenne Vineyard and Merriman Vineyard contributing to a beautiful expression of the Yamhill Carlton AVA. These two vineyards are planted on a combination of Peavine silty clay loam, Panther silty clay loam, WillaKenzie silty clay loam, and Hazelair silty clay loam soils.

TASTING NOTES

The Kilmore Pinot Noir has been made since 2003 and hails from the Yamhill Carlton AVA in the foothills of the Coast Range.  Old ocean bottom sandy soils devigor the growth of the vines and concentrate the berries.  Each year The Kilmore represents the darkest fullest bodied Pinot Noir that we make.

This blend of Merriman and Lenne Vineyard Pinot Noir (Pommard, Dijon & Wadensvil clones) takes the dark notes to higher levels without sacrificing fragrance and texture.  To be enjoyed with spicy meat dishes and definitely one to be served to those who prefer richer wines.
