As of September 9th we had completed harvesting our estate vineyard in Yakima. Now exactly two weeks later we have finished bringing in fruit from all other sites in Washington, with the exception of late-harvest fruit …stay tuned later for details on that endeavor!
The estate Cabernet Sauvignon is exceptional and full-flavored coming off a month earlier than average. The harvest has actually been fairly smooth. Mother Nature greeted us with much cooler temperatures to start September, which slowed ripening just enough to space harvesting out and get the crew rested for Labor Day.
This was in stark contrast to the hottest summer on record. We will be finished even with the fruit earmarked for dessert wine by the end of September. This is another growing season for the record books!
Expect great things from ’15 – there’s plenty of rich flavors and personality in the wines thus far.
